Focusing on roast quality
In the coming months (towards end of August or early September when new greens arrive) I???ll be refocusing my roasting efforts in a bid to improving my roast quality and getting to know a small number of origins more intimately so that I can get the most out of them and really start to nail each and every roast. I???ll be ordering a handful of excellent origins, cupping these then focusing on maybe three of them.
The theory here is that by roasting the same beans more often I will be able to better develop an ideal roast profile for each one ??? rather than cycling through 10 or so origins but never really mastering any of them.
I think as home roasters, with easy access to so many different coffees it can be tempting to change origins every few days just to taste something different, because we can! But sometimes, less is more.
